Wenn das Meer ein Gedächtnis und eine Stimme hätte – was würde es uns erzählen?


„A Ticket to Atlantis“ erforscht in eindrücklichen Geschichten und Bildern, mit live gespielter Musik, die Beziehung von uns Menschen zum Meer, dem Sinnbild des Ungewissen, der Naturgewalten, aber auch der Sehnsucht. Beginnend mit den realen Erfahrungen geflüchteter Menschen, die sich dem Meer überantwortet haben in ihrer Suche nach einem sicheren Hafen, wird ein Bogen geschlagen zum antiken Mythos der versunkenen Stadt Atlantis. Entstanden am Hafen von Beirut aus Interviews, die die Künstler mit geflohenen Menschen auf Lesbos geführt haben lädt „A Ticket to Atlantis“ in Essen an dem mystisch anmutenden Ort der Schurenbachhalde in Essen, ein an den Erfahrungen der Geflüchteten teilzuhaben, sich aber gleichzeitig auch selbst auf die Suche zu machen nach der eigenen Sehnsucht – hier auf der anderen Seite des Mittelmeers.

Die Theaterperformance „A Ticket to Atlantis“ auf der Schurenbachhalde ist eine Kooperationsveranstaltung mit dem Erlebnisprogramm Emscher Landschaftspark „Unter freiem Himmel“ des Regionalverbandes Ruhr, das vom 25.06. bis 31.10.2017 verschiedene Erlebnisorte von Duisburg bis Bergkamen im Emscher Landschaftspark mit inszenierten Picknicks und Touren bespielt.
