Buster Keaton’s career as an artist was one of the most amazing of the 20th century. Early he left the American Vaudeville theatre to devote himself to movies. Together with Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd he soon was counted one of the most successful actors of the silent film era. His humour didn’t consist in the failure but in the surprise about something had worked out. He showed his true brilliance in surviving each and every situation – even the most tricky ones – without moving a single muscle of his face. But his downfall was just as rapid as his comet-like rise. Difficult to say if it was due to alcohol or the emerging sound film or the ravenous studio system MGM. Inspired by Keaton’s intriguing jokes and the tragic nature of his life Merker and Hitz create a performance which is meant as a bow for the genious »stoneface«. They dig deep into the bag of Vaudeville tricks and explore the possibilities of chaos and anarchy. True to the motto: »When it comes to the worst: stay standing. The building that is falling above your ear could have left one window open for you.«
»It is unbelievable how fast and precisely Merker and Hitz present joke after joke. One just escapes the board that was put into motion by the other, one falls out of the window and reappears right after on top of the roof.« Der Bund
