Anatomia Publica
Man Drake
Wednesday, 1. July 2015 - 20:00
A soldier, missing in action and presumed dead, returns to find his wife living with another man. »Anatomia Publica« is dissecting this absurd moment of encounter and relationship by the fragmentation of movements. Some sequences are even repeated several times. This way a bizarre frame-by-frame panopticon reveals uncountable aspects and details of a movement which results in a narrative action. Accompanied by a constant soundscape the production is searching for the strange, the absurd, the funny, the cruel and the sensitive which coexists underneath the visible surface of our actions.
»Vergés’s work breaks down individual actions into their component parts. Split-second reflexes were played out in high definition and subconscious feelings became clear. Hugs contained throttles. Laughter could look like death throes. Playful nibbles, and even kisses, started to seem cannibalistic.« The Telegraph
